This is a nation of elves. All outsiders are looked at with hostility and fear. There are no cities as the entire nation lives as one entity. The elves live in the trees, with platforms around and inside every tree, rope bridges connecting the trees together at multiple different elevations. A normal person, however, would not know the exact location of the elves homes as the trees themselves are alive and actively use concealing magic for any structure that is built into them. As such, any visitor to the woods would not be able to see the mega-city above them, nor could they hear it. Only those with true sight, magic detection, or prior knowledge of the elves location can find the “tree bases.”
Because of there mistreating of the trees, they have gone to war with Thalassiril many times since creation, the most recent war taking place 114 years ago (686av). The war ended with a cease fire but the nations still brutally hate each other, just waiting for a reason to go to war.

They are very set in their ways, conservatives.
The elves here live a vegan lifestyle.
They life in a socialist way with touches of meritocracy.

The nation’s name is actually a misunderstanding, the wise tree in the nation is called The Thalassiril, and outsiders misunderstood it to be the name of the nation. It has stuck around and now the wise tree sees it as a great honor.

When a decision needs to be made, the 6 Elders, including the high elder, sit in the great council room with 6 military representatives and the great tree The Thalassiril to discuss and come to an agreement on how to move forward. The tree rarely speaks but when it does everyone turns and listens.

Since elves cannot normally get drunk, they produce the most powerful drinks known to man known an Sleepy Mory, normally shortened to mory. Most non-elven people are not aware that this drink exists, only connoisseurs.

Since elves are so long lived, and generally do not remarry, weddings are considered extremely holy events. Because the population is relatively small compared to a human civilization and the long lives of elves, weddings are rare. So when weddings do happen, they are closer to small festivals than small weddings. This is even more true if the couple is related to an official, or they themselves are someone of importance. Some weddings, say for people who are high up in the military, even become nationwide events.

Currently, the nation of Thalassiril has completely overthrown the previous balance of elders and military control, and instead is now run entirely by the military. To indicate this, their formal name is now The Armed Nation of Thalassiril, or The Armed Nation of Thalassiril in defense of the wise tree.
