- The party is questioned. Miriel, not trusting the party, uses magic to force them to tell the truth. She then asks party members who they are, where they come from, and if they have ill intent.
- Once the party was questioned to a satisfying degree, Helion asks Aerendyl what he plans to do now. Upon understanding that he plans to go and attack the dark elves solo, he brings up another option.
- Before Helion is able to bring up the second option, Myriil interrupts and complains that the area has not been verified secured. She mainly does this because the Raven Queen was there mere moments ago. She begins casting True Seeing. She looks around and finds a creature watching from the trees. She looks at it with suspicious eyes. He notices this and jumps down, and he introduces himself as Kairos Kingston.
- He admits to being hired as a spy for Xerosil, but does not believe the amount they are paying is substantial enough to risk his life. He offered to be a double agent of sorts.
- With this, everyone believes him as zone of truth is still up, they move on to the plan.
- Thalassiril has acquired a wand of spacial disruption through Vinney. A special magical artificact that is uniquely capable of destroying portals.
- Their spies have told them that there are few dark elves actually living in Xerosil, instead they mostly inhabit the shadowfell and come through a portal that is in the center of Xerosil.
- The elders propose that the party sneak into Xerosil, find the portal, and activate the wand, destroying it.
- Thalassiril’s diviner claims a 2% chance of surviving such an endeavor.
- Kairos Kingston offers his help, and the rest of the party agrees.
- Shain gets ‘abducted’ and sucked into a portal.
- Before they head off to the location, Aerendyl wants to visit Vinney first. He asks his dad, who informs him he has been staying at Aerendyl’s house since he left.
- Aerendyl, understandably upset, heads to his home to confront him. He goes home to find Vinney asleep on his couch. He claims to have been there for a while and paid rent in coins on the counter.
- Aerendyl grabs some of his stuff he left at home, mostly gold, and asks Vinney if he could use the tunnels to get to Xerosil.
- Kairos Kingston decides the best plan is for him to go on his own to the ‘meeting point’ and have the party spy/investigate on their own. As such, Kairos takes off.
- Vinney, leading the party, goes to the tree that is holding up Aerendyl’s house, he knocks twice to reveal a ladder. This ladder lead down underground to tunnels that spanned in every direction.
- On these tunnels are tracks with minecarts on them. It is later found out that these carts were acquired by Vinney as payment from someone who owed money.
- These carts are not very well built, and easily become uncontrollable. This happens and causes two members to fly off the cart while they are going around the corner. Aerendyl checks the cart and finds that the cart was created horribly. It uses the magical power of the people riding, but has no restrictions on the amount of energy. As such, the more powerful/the more people = the faster it goes. Aerendyl fixes this because artificer go brrr.
- Before they get back in the cart, they find a nice little spot in the tunnels that is large enough to rest and take a nice long rest.
- They awake to another group of people on a minecart screaming as they go past. They enter their newly fixed minecart and head on their way.
- They get to the end of the rail, and all that they can see is one straight tunnel. Vinney tells them to go down the tunnel and up the eventually ladder.
- They do so and exit a tree to a barren wasteland. The trees are barely alive, yet somehow are. There is no vegetation except for the trees. The trees have no leaves on them.
- They walk to where Kairos told them the meeting place was.
- As they approach, they see Kairos standing at the base of the tree. Kairos sees them and telepathically tells them to stay back and watch. He then knocked on the tree twice and a ladder dropped down.
- Kairos goes up the ladder and meets with a dark elf. He gives the dark elf false information. The dark elf then asks Kairos to give false information to Thalassiril. He claims to do so instantly. The elf asks Kairos to follow him to help prepare for war.
- Kairos follows him to the portal, the party follows them from the ground.
- The dark elf asks Kairos to step through the portal to ‘help prepare for the war’, Kairos sees through this and understands he is just trying to wrap up loose ends.
- Kairos immediately goes on the offensive, starting combat.
- The rest of the party climbs up the tree to join in combat.
- There are platforms on trees with rope bridges connecting them.
- Aerendyl burns the rope bridge, separating the platform and preventing help from coming across.
- Although magic is reaching the party, a majority of the force is melee. Eventually the dark elves bring a ogre who starts throwing people across.
- The party activates the wand and begins destabilizing the portal. It switches to a dark dreary dungeon, a couple seconds later, it shows ruins with light deep within.
- The party goes in while they can see the ruins, they appear on the other side as the portal closes, and they feel a vibration. The portal explodes.
