Session starts Dreamember 32nd 800av 11:00AM
• Caitlin approached Solvar, offering him companionship, and he agreed to join the party
• Solvar expressed hunger for the first time since entering the cave, implying the magical field had previously suppressed it
• Aragorn offered Solvar a “dead rabbit” and some moldy bread
Caitlin used Purify Food and Drink on the rabbit, making it safe to eat, though its taste remained undesirable This rabbit was noted to have been acquired “almost a whole literal year ago”
• Aerendyl left the cave first, observing that the outside environment was a sparsely populated forest, not dense
• Using The Aetheric Navigator (compass), Aerendyl determined their location was in Coldera, likely on its western side
• The party decided to head east to find civilization or the ocean
• Solvar, Caitlin, and Aragorn caught up with Aerendyl and Shain
• Aerendyl requested Shain’s assistance in learning to replicate a “fireball idea” for a new leg blueprint, aiming to add new features like hidden compartments and improve its existing flamethrower system
He planned to perfect this design during their travel
• Aragorn suggested Caitlin use Find Vehicle to summon a carriage, which they could then pull with their warhorse to increase their travel speed
The DM clarified that only conventional land vehicles could be summoned, excluding modern ones like an F-150 SUV or Shelby Mustang
• Aerendyl used The Aetheric Navigator again to find the Coliseum which he had heard about, determining it was located to the southeast
• The party agreed to travel southeast along the road, aiming to reach civilization while avoiding Lovantia, as Aragorn was wanted by the Ice Legion originating from there.
Side note: Yinlare is also in Snowvale within Lovantia around this time.
• Their travel was significantly hastened by Shain casting Haste II on the horse
This rapid movement caused Solvar extreme discomfort, leading him to dry heaving and eventually vomiting bits of rotten flesh
• After two days of travel, they observed white smoke in the distance, a sign of civilization
• Solvar attempted to attune to the scepter he received from Pyrostralos
Caitlin examined it, confirming it was a “brutal” item requiring blood activation They deduced that the power of the staff would increase proportionally with the strength of the creature whose blood was used for the attunement
• Caitlin suggested using the head of Vexmortis which Aerendyl carried in his bag of holding and which Yinlare had preserved with a Ceremony spell
• Aerendyl provided the head of Vexmortis to Caitlin
Caitlin then handed it to Solvar Solvar squeezed the head, allowing blood to drip onto him and the scepter, thus attuning to it The head was drained and became like a mask
• Solvar immediately tested the attuned scepter, casting Dragon’s Breath on an unsuspecting deer located approximately 50 feet away
The spell unleashed a 60-foot cone of bright blue fire, instantly incinerating the deer and all surrounding plant life, dealing 88 fire damage The party then consumed the roasted deer
• They arrived at a very small village, later identified as Crumbleton, confirming that they were actually in Coldera
• They encountered a large centaur, approximately 100 feet away, who appeared to be a war figure and was poised for battle
• Aragorn approached the centaur. The centaur challenged the group, but when he went to attack; he stumbled but quickly regained his footing
• A half-orc named Orem emerged from the village, interrupting the confrontation and complimenting Aragorn’s skill
• Aragorn claimed Judicar as his residence
Orem, unfamiliar with Judicar, asked to see Aragorn’s world map Orem recognized drawings similar to those of a magic caster he had previously sent to the Coliseum
• Aerendyl inquired about their location, and Orem stated they were in Crumbleton, the “lowest-tiered village” in the region
• Aerendyl asked if the town had a blacksmith who could forge metal weapons
Orem informed him that in Gorgebottom there was a talented blacksmith.
• Orem declared that all were welcome in Coldera as long as they were “strong”
He mentioned their king, King Tu’Vna, resided in the Coliseum. Aragorn asked to speak with the king and inquired about the quickest route to the Coliseum.
• Orem identified “Rhas Iceroar” as Crumbleton’s top challenger
• Orem offered the party a house for free if they challenged and defeated its current “very weak” occupants
• Aerendyl accepted the challenge and confronted the half-orc woman in the house
She attacked with a cleaver but was easily defeated due to her weakness She, her presumed husband, and child retreated to the cellar, and the party claimed the house
• Caitlin took up a defensive position outside the house with her flametongue sword
• The party began to experience visual disturbances, seeing wraiths appear and disappear in their peripheral vision
Aerendyl directly saw a wraith and recalled that wraiths are generally “impervious to physical anything”
• Caitlin used Channel Divinity, compelling wraiths within 30 feet to engage her in battle, preventing them from moving more than 30 feet away if they failed a Wisdom saving throw
Three wraiths appeared Two disappeared, inflicting 4 points of psychic damage through their screams. The third wraith remained visible, staring at Caitlin
• Caitlin then cast Daylight, creating a 60-foot radius sphere of light
The direct light caused the remaining wraith to burn and scream in pain before collapsing into a pile of ash, with its cloak also catching fire The other two wraiths were seemingly unaffected
• The party settled into the two-bedroom house for a long rest, with some members sleeping on the couch and floor
• The DM welcomed the party to Coldera and for context, revealed the dominant racial demographics of Coldera: Half-Orcs (8%), Dragonborns (7%), Goliaths and Centaurs (5%), Bugbears (3%), and Minotaurs (2%), with all other races comprising the remaining 70%
