Session starts Skyfire 25th 800av 6:30 PM

  • Shain, awaits in his tiny hut on the off chance that Vexmortis will appear. Fortunately/unfortunately, he does, he appears in a hood in order to prevent others from noticing him.
    • Vexmortis approaches the hut, Shain opens a sliver to allow him in.
    • Shain does not trust that this is truly Vexmortis,1 as such he asks numerous questions and test him. Ultimately it is decided that this in fact is the one and only Vexmortis. However, something seems off about him, almost as though he is less sure of himself.
    • Eventually, Shain asks Vexmortis for a gift, Shain wants to be protected from death2, all of death. He does not wish to die under any circumstances. Vexmortis says he can provide that power, but at a cost. Vexmortis will need some power from Shain at an untold time, and an untold number of times. Shain respectfully denies, but asks for some information first.
    • Shain asks if he knows about any goblins named Trug, and gets a negative response. Saddened, he asks if Vexmortis can find a similar item to Shains Dodecahedron.
    • Vexmortis closes his eyes, and power begins to flow through him “almost as if he suddenly gained twenty levels”. When he opens his eyes, he informs Shain that the only other object in the world that matches the one he has, is somewhere in Nezarma.
    • With that, he takes his leave. Shain goes to sleep.
  • Aragorn and Thardem are currently asleep in a tavern.3
  • Aerendyl checks out the newly built well that Vexmortis has placed. ^3067ea
    • He finds that the well is built pretty well and it does not seem like it is something particularly special. That being said, he notices that the water is unusually high for a well.
    • Aerendyl decides to ask about other wells from a nearby person. She points out a lot of wells that have been placed around. He decides to check out another nearby one.
    • When he checks the second well, he finds that it is basically identical to the first. He decides to try and jump into the well and swim down. 4
    • After swimming down a long ways, he finally gets to the end of the walls and is in a larger body of water. He realizes that he can surface next to the wall.
    • Aerendyl looks around and sees a gigantic cavern. He cannot see any meaningful supports, or structures. The ceiling is at least 800 ft high. The walls of the well form a pillar going up. He sees nearby ‘islands’ and decides to swim to one.
    • He continues to swim seeing the pillars where the wells are above ground. He decides to check out each pillar. However, as it was already late when he ventured down, he starts to get tired. He stops at the second to last pillar, finds a nearby island and makes camp out of the wood he acquired from a cart a couple days prior.
    • He awakes to the sound of a roar coming from somewhere else in the cave. It is echoing so much that he cannot discern the direction. Furthermore, he notices that it is very bright, there is some form of life on the ceiling of the cavern. This life produces light, almost like a pseudo sun. Furthermore, it appears to be slowly moving.
    • Aerendyl decides to ignore this roar, instead heading to the last pillar on his journey. Nearby this last pillar, he sees an island. This island is different from the others. Whilst the rest of the islands were made completely out of rock/stone, this island has some sand, furthermore it has a overhang of rock perfect for a simple camp/shelter.
    • He hears the roar again, this time louder, and decides that he should head to another nearby island to see if it was the sandy island that is making the noise.
    • As he is swimming, he hears the roar again, this time it is even louder. With his ears ringing, he finally gets to the other island.
    • Aerendyl can finally tell the direction of the roar, when he looks, he notices that the lights on the ceiling are slowly going out. Slowly, but steadily, going out one by one towards him. He also sees what can only be described by an explosion of flames coming from the darkness in the distance.
    • Aerendyl decides to swim back to the other island as it had some form of protection.
    • Half way back to the island, the darkness has reached him. He continues swimming as he hears another roar.
    • He finally makes it back to the island and takes cover.
    • He hears a sound coming ever closer: wings flapping, but something is wrong, the sheer amount of wind being displaced is practically a hurricane and the noise from the air alone is deafening.
    • He stays hidden and casts invisibility hoping that will somehow help him.
    • Aerendyl receives a message from Shain asking where he is. His only response; ‘um, its been nice knowing you guys. I think im going to die. um, i don’t know how many words this thing has lef-’
    • Finally he sees the outline of something above him, he struggles to see a the wind beats down on his eyes, but he can make out the shape of a wing. From what he can see, it would be at least 600 ft wingspan.
    • Moments later, the edge of the wing rams into one of the pillars causing it to crumble, but the beast does not react and continues flying away.
    • He decides to wait it out, until finally the creature moves on. As it gets further and further away, the lights begin to illuminate again.
    • Aerendyl decides to swim to the nearest, non-destroyed, pillar and swim back up.
  • Simultaneously, above ground, Aragorn and Thardem leave the tavern they slept in drunk. They grab a man they thought was Shain. They decide to go and look around for Aerendyl. They know he was going to check out the wells last night, so they head toward the closest well.
  • Whilst at the well, Thardem and Aragorn figure out that the man is not Shain and rob this poor homeless man of his pants.
  • Thardem eats candy he acquired from Knicks’ Knacks. He grows two more arms/hands out of his body that he cannot control.
  • Shain awakens and walks toward Aragorn and Thardem seeing a naked homeless man run away. As he approaches, the two arms randomly start doing the wave, for some reason Thardem himself also starts doing the wave of his own volition.
  • When Shain is told why he has the additional arms, he grabs one and begins casting identify. He does so whilst walking around Thardem and Aragorn who are stupidly doing the wave.
  • One of the nearby priests begins to approach, calling out asking what they were doing. The priest calls out to the other priests and claims that the party are just ‘worshiping in their own way’
  • The priest drops his disguise self introduces himself as Yinlare. He claims to be hired by the queen and has been awaiting their arrival. He questions where the ‘other elf’ is. Shain uses Message to ask Aerendyl where he is. Aerendyl responds that he is probably going to die.5
  • Shortly after, the nearby well collapses into the ground, leaving a hole in its place.
  • Shain wants to go find him asap, but Yinlare tells him to wait. Instead, Yinlare goes to another nearby well.
  • Soon Aerendyl swims up said well, and meets with Yinlare. They go together to meet the rest of the party.
  • The whole party then goes to a nearby ‘safe house’ that Yinlare has and sleeps.

Session ends Skyfire 27th 6:00 AM

Footnotes

  1. This is likely because Vexmortis is being very weird. Stuttering, and other non-godlike types of speech.

  2. This is interesting, what specifically would be worrying Shain so much?

  3. Because of course they are

  4. of course, you find a well and the first instinct is to swim down… who doesn’t do that???
