Note: These notes are made after the fact, while listing to the recording. As such, they are more in depth than normal.
Session starts Skyfire 27th 6:00 AM
- Yinlare is preparing for the fight with Vexmortis, Aerendyl says he is going to a nearby blacksmith to repair his hand.1 The rest of the party stayed at the ‘safe house’.
- Shain attempts many things with his Dodecahedron, he also uses Sending to send a simple message to Trug, asking him to respond, he does not.
- Aragorn helps Yinlare make a detailed map of the city.
- Aerendyl arrives at the blacksmith, Glorious Smithing Co. It is filled with high quality products. The person currently running the store is a Tiefling. He notices two people shopping and a guy sleeping in the corner^[2]
- Aerendyl asks if he can use a forge to work on something, the Tiefling recognizes this and calls it the ‘DIY Package’. They charge 3 gold coins but provide all tools and necessary items, not including material.
- The Tiefling gestures toward a piece of cloth to the side, what is obviously a ‘door’ to separate the workshop from the customer facing store. When he walks through he notices three dwarves who are working on a high quality sword. 2 He makes his way to a small station that is obviously made for DIY projects.
- Aerendyl uses his scrap metal to repair his hand, but decides to expand it to make it slightly advanced. He wants to make his hand quick release, so he can swap them with ease. For gameplay reasons, it takes a bonus action to swap.3
- Aerendyl tests his new fists by attacking scrap metal. He does 1 damage. His arm does not fall apart.
- He decides to look around and see what they have for sale, he learns the price of anvils; Regular - 100gp / Smaller - 45gp
- Aerendyl says his goodbyes. The Tiefling, in response, says ‘may vexmortis smile upon you’, Aerendyl replies with; ‘many prayers to you’. This, however, does not get the reaction he was expecting. Everyone stops and looks at him, they are offput because it is generally taboo to tell others what you pray for.
- Aerendyl, embarrassed, runs out. On his way back to the safe house he notices for the first time since he arrived to Bremstone, a person who is actually sad. 4
- Aerendyl introduces himself and asks why he is sad and everyone else is happy. He says ‘Of course they are happy … Its socialism!’ He explains that he used to own a farm and has worked on it since he was a child. Then suddenly some big guy showed up and starting giving things out for free, invalidating his farm. He is sad because he has no purpose in life anymore.
- When Aerendyl calls the man’s profession “simple”, he chuckles and claims he would get along with his daughter. He explains that she has made some bombs and sent them to Nezarma. He claims the bombs fly through the air with fireballs attached to the bottom.5
- Aerendyl asks where she is so he can meet her. He tells Aerendyl that she lives in the mountains to the north. The old man introduces himself as Charles, and says his daughters name is Cristina, but is also known as the Lady of the Mountain by the people in town.
- Aerendyl continues to the safe house. He walks in to see a massively overdetailed map of the town created by Aragorn and Yinlare.6
- The party delegates on the best plan to take out Vexmortis.
Plan A
Wait until later in the evening when he is likely to place another well. Have Aerendyl go up to Vexmortis immediately after the well has been placed, then use Mesmerizing Hourglass of Fascination. Pray that he falls for it, and looses himself in the hourglass. Then deal constant damage until he dies.
Plan B
Whilst Vexmortis is distracted, infiltrate the church to attempt to find a weakness.
Plan C
Call the queen to get her/her nations assistance.
Plan D
Take out those who are following him, slowly and efficiently until he has no more power. This is assuming that all of his power is sourced from his followers.
Plan E
Make a deal with Vexmortis to get him to leave, weaken himself, or restrain him somehow.
- Eventually they decide on plan A.
- Since they have time to kill, they hang out and discuss the plan further.
- Aerendyl goes to a corner of the room and uses green-blade flame to ignite his arm as a test. Making the rest of the party look around seeing him in a dark corner illuminated by a green flame darth vader style.
- As it is now evening, Yinlare and the party begin to exit the safe house to look around for Vexmortis. However, he immediately spots him heading toward the party. 7
- Vexmortis walks to a spot right out of town to place a well. Yinlare and Aragorn climb onto a roof near where Vexmortis is preparing to place a well.
- There is a crowd 200 people strong. Aerendyl joins the crowed and makes his way to a spot toward the front of the crowd.
- Vexmortis slams his fist into the ground placing a new well. As everyone celebrates, Aerendyl runs up to Vexmortis and starts to apologize for attacking him earlier, to apologize for this he offers him a gift, the Mesmerizing Hourglass of Fascination. The moment that Vexmortis looks down to it, Aerendyl flips it over.
- Vexmortis falls for it and becomes mesmerized, as does the crowd and Aerendyl.
- Yinlare shots an arrow in between Aerendyl and the hourglass in an attempt to break the memorization. This, fortunately, works perfectly.
- Aerendyl is very careful to not obscure Vexmortis’s line of sight.
- Shain takes everything off of Vexmortis leaving him completely nude.
- It is at this point the party figures out that Knick was rotating the hourglass every hour to keep them locked there for 24 hours a couple days ago.
- Yinlare looks for any weak point on Vexmortis, he notices, midway down his back, a scar where he looks like he was cut before. He draws his bow and prepares to attack.
- Shain hastes Yinlare to boost his damage.
- Aerendyl notices that the people who were further back, are pushing through/moving around causing them to see the hourglass, causing them to freeze. Slowly forming a circle around them.
- Yinlare launches his attack. In response, Vexmortis’s smile changes to a frown. It would appear that the hourglass is not having full effect.
- After Shain attacks, he falls to his knees in pain, grasping at his head. Furtharmore, Vexmortis’s face is filled with rage.
- Aerendyl puts Tarra’s Immovable Shield of Exchange on Vexmortis and attacks it hoping to drain his vitality.
- Yinlare attacks Shain’s hand, pinning his hand to the ground, knocking him out.
- There are a total of 4 attacks; Aerendyl: 3 / Aragorn: 2 / Yinlare: 1 - This would usually apply 13 exhaustion points. However, the people immediately surrounding him fall to the ground instead.
- Vexmortis’s face is pure rage at this point, veins are visible. It is clear that the hourglass will not hold for much longer.
- Vexmortis finally breaks free. He asks what he did to them to hate him so- He angrily curses them and begins casting an 8th level spell.
- Aerendyl attempts to counterspell but fails.
- Shain awakens at the perfect moment, and subtly attempts to counterspell it.
- Vexmortis casts the spell - and launches it to the the ground. However, Shain’s counter spell takes hold, dissipating the magic.
- In the confusion, Yinlare aims and shoots at Vexmortis’ jaw.
- Vexmortis falls to the ground, dead. Magical energy flows out of his body, returning to the other people. At the end, there appears to be a black bit of smoke that flies into the ground.
He had 482 hit points8.
