- Aragorn decides to order aura farm.
- People start approaching Aragorn from all directions, whispering about him. Since his kingdom fell 20 years ago, Some are confused, not knowing a heir even existed, while some more educated individuals recognize him as the rightful heir of Gondor. Older people (over 40) disapprove and about half of the educated people, see him as the heir of those who caused the kingdom’s downfall.
- Aragorn announces that they have bigger things to do than gawk and need to help the injured and get people to safety.
- A general (mid-40s) and an older man (late 60s, balding and gray-haired) push through the crowd. The general agrees that the area needs to be secured and Aragorn brought somewhere safe.
- Aragorn points back at the general, accusing him of failing the city.
- Aerendyl, on a roof, makes his presence known to the general and the older man by casting a message: “I warned you if I saw you again and we survived something bad will happen. I promised I would kill them myself.” The younger general goes pale but regains composure, while the older one doesn’t seem to acknowledge it.
- The general states that Aragorn brought the dragon there and endangered the city, scoffing at his parents’ actions. He is joined by guards, who imply they will draw their swords if Aragorn doesn’t comply.
- Aragorn glowing golden crown fades away.
- Shain demands to know why they are being taken into “protective custody.”
- Shain attempts to deceive the general about the dragon’s fate, claiming Aragorn “got rid of” it, and that its body disappeared. The general is not convinced, stating that his seers would be able to confirm it.
- Aragorn refuses to be confined to a room, stating he has too many debts to repay to the kingdom.
- The general is hesitant to cause a riot by forcing Aragorn to comply due to the surrounding crowd.
- Aerendyl casts Message again to the general, saying, “Hey, there’s no consequence here.” in an attempt to make the captain overplay his hand.
- The general mentions that they sent people to the front lines to isolate the damage and expresses his bitterness, stating Aragorn knows “nothing of sacrifice, nothing of responsibility.”
- The back and forth continues with the general claiming that Aragorn brought the dragon, or at a minimum - lead the dragon here. Aragorn continuing to condem the general for sending the troops away as a distraction, but staying behind to save himself.
- The general turns to walk away.
- Aerendyl yells at the general, calling him a coward and telling him to run away like he did last time.
- The general, recognizing Aerendyl, warns Aragorn to “put a tighter leash on your helpers when committing espionage”.
- The general declares First Lieutenant Ergen Mortensen derelict in duty and a betrayer of the nation, ordering him to turn himself in. He then extends the accusation to the rest of the party.
- Shain suggests a public vote on the general’s accusations, but Aragorn twists the vote, “Should Aragorn be excised from the country, or should ?”
- The general lost the vote and the guards begin to take him away.
- Aragorn attempts to request that the general be allowed to stay within the kingdom, arguing that it is unjust to strip him of his duty and sacrifices. The guards acknowledge his request but state they must obey the people’s vote.
- Some people in the crowd begin to bow and kneel to Aragorn, acknowledging his act of royal forgiveness.
- The guards escort the general away, stating that his orders are no longer lawful due to the democratic process.
- Aragorn speaks to Captain Kilmore, stating his responsibility for the dragon and asking if his actions have changed Kilmore’s outlook. Kilmore confirms that they only wanted to question him and did not want him to leave.
- Aragorn agrees to be questioned after the town is rebuilt, expressing his desire for the kingdom to be restored.
- The party decides to time-skip and help rebuild the city. Aragorn plans to actively help civilians rebuild, and Aerendyl also agrees to help.
- The city can be rebuilt to a basic level in two to three months.
- During the three-month time skip, Aerendyl perfects his grappling hook, which now has a range of 60 feet.
- Aerendyl also works on a compass that functions but is still finicky.
- Shain considers selling his Wand of Wonder for 10,000 gold.
- The party also gains a “savior of the village” discount on everything.
- Aerendyl works on his grappling hook and compass with Shain, teaching him about the different stones.
- Aerendyl meets with Nighthawk after one week, as previously arranged. Nighthawk is young, gives off a “bad scientist” vibe, and carries a clipboard with ciphered notes. He wears a dark red cape.
- Aerendyl is truthful during the interview, sharing his military experience and position. When asked why he wants a sword, he states it’s to protect loved ones, fight evil, and protect himself, and later adds, “to slay my mortal enemies, all of them.” Nighthawk seems initially dissatisfied but smirks at the last answer.
- Two weeks later, Aerendyl meets Nighthawk again. Nighthawk presents a long, wooden katana mockup. Aerendyl gives feedback, asking for a wider blade and a shorter handle, which Nighthawk seems happy to receive.
- Nighthawk asks about the modifications Aerendyl has made to his metal arm, as he hasn’t seen a proper mechanical arm before.
- Aerendyl demonstrates his grappling hook and explains that he’s constantly changing his arm with new things. He asks Nighthawk if he’s familiar with the stones, pulling out a black one.
- Nighthawk reveals he has a small yellow stone that he found four years ago but didn’t know what it did. Aerendyl recognizes the yellow stone’s properties (storing magic indefinitely) and explains it, while also describing how he obtained his stones from kobold merchants in a mine shaft.
- Nighthawk expresses excitement about the information and quickly leaves.
- Two weeks later, Aerendyl meets Nighthawk in the fields. Nighthawk presents the finished sword, which is a one-to-one replica of the wooden mockup with Aerendyl’s requested modifications. A wrapped stone is visible at the separation of the handle and blade.
- Aerendyl notes that the sword requires two hands to wield due to its lopsided shape, unlike his previous sword. The stone doesn’t seem to have an immediate effect.
- Nighthawk explains his thought process in crafting the sword. Before leaving, he asks for one of Aerendyl’s stones (preferably not a yellow one) as payment. Aerendyl gives him a cyan stone (the larger of his two). As a final note, Nighthawk mentions that he needs to attune to the weapon for it to work properly..
- The city repairs are finalized in three months. A feast is held to commemorate the repairs and celebrate the dragon slayer.
- During the time-skip, Aerendyl kept in communication with his wife.
- Aragorn influence has grown due to his reconstruction efforts, but dislike from some groups (especially those aligned with the general’s views) has also increased.
- 2,432 people lost their lives in the dragon attack. Aragorn personally attended every one of their funerals, gaining significant influence.
- Caitlin’s large tower shield has been replaced with a normal-sized buckler, and her gold armor is now dark, integrated blacks and purples with large spikes.
- Shain has acquired a wizard hat with stars.
- Shain reveals that none of his visions from his flashbacks showed him going to Cirazan, which he believes makes it the “most optimal” path for him to avoid dying and best chance to return home.
- Shain pulls out a fine, floating gold “thought strand” (resembling a strand of hair) and gives it to Caitlin, along with a few others. He explains that crushing them will reveal visions of his deaths in different realities.
- Caitlin agrees to join Shain, stating she needs to return home to serve her lady.
- Aerendyl reflects on the past three months, noting that the party has built up camaraderie, especially with Nate’s (Caitlin) character being relatively new pre-timeskip.
- The session ends before the feast, with the DM stating that significant events are likely to occur there.
Session ends Dreamember 26th 800av 5:00PM.
