- Aragorn and Shain’s Planning:
- Caitlin’s Money-Making Scheme:
- Caitlin expresses her need to make money and considers looking for bounty boards.
- She learns that there are no bounty boards due to the town’s powerful military, which prevents most crime.
- Caitlin decides to try a different approach to get money.
- She disguises herself as a beggar and challenges people to fight her for money.
- A person approaches her, and after some conversation (and white lies), gives her 5 gold without fighting.
- Aerendyl’s Kobold Encounter:
- Aerendyl encounters some Kobolds setting up a stand. (un-named, Tiz’ik, Rix, Wizzle)
- He helps them set up, and they explain they are sometimes attacked because people mistakenly think they are hostile.
- Aerendyl learns they are selling stones, he asks if they are selling any special stones from their homeland. They pretend that they have no idea what he could possibly be referring too. After more discussions, he arranges to meet them later to purchase some after dark. They mention the courtyard is closed off so the will need to sneak in.
- Aragorn’s Military Ambitions:
- Aragorn and Shain inquire about the military and learn that the city is a democracy. Soon, they will be getting a statue on the 32nd This was retconed, it used to be 35th). Then they will be able to vote very easily.
- They find out that visitors can vote and Aragorn jokes about voter fraud.
- Aragorn expresses his desire to join the army, climb the ranks, and take control of the city-state at that point.
- Aragorn begins to fill out paperwork to join the military, but Shain uses magic to determine the paperwork is magical, which causes Aragorn to stop.
- Aragorn is told it takes many years to become a general, according to Shain, but he wants to expedite the process.
- Shain suggests that Aragorn fight the hero who saved the land to prove himself.
- Unfortunately, the hero is off on a distant continent.
- Finding Information:
- Aerendyl looks for a blacksmith to upgrade his sword but is unsuccessful as the forges are shutdown for storage space in preparation of the Starlight Bazaar.
- Aragorn and Shain go to the military base and speak to a receptionist.
- Aragorn claims to be the son of a previous king to try and get a higher rank, after getting more info, she thanks him for the information and says she will pass it along to her superiors and that someone will reach out to him within 4 days.
- They also inquire about the hero and confirm that he is real.
- Caitlin, who goes to another guard post, learns about a criminal the guard, Sengras Instils, is looking for, a weapon smuggler who has evaded capture for quite a while. The guard offers 500 gold for the man to be brought in alive
- She gets to question a man who was detained by the guards previously, he is initially unwilling to give up any information because he fears retribution. However, he eventually offers to help her contact the person she is looking for in exchange for a reduced sentence. Caitlin agrees.
- The prisoner gives her directions to a shopkeeper who can help them contact the person she seeks. The secret code is “how wonderful it is that swords shine brightly”
- She then visits a shopkeeper to get information on how to contact this criminal.
- She pays 4 gold to use a sending stone to contact the criminal and arrange a meeting to purchase 20 longswords. The person on the other side of the sending stone gives the location, the shop keep gives her the time, today at 10:30 PM at an old house to the west.
