Session starts Moonblossom 24th 800av 8:30PM.
- The session begins with the group discussing past events, including a payment of 100 gold for a job involving a girl and her father. Shain mentions that Aragorn received the payment, but the exact amount was never specified. Aragorn jokes about it being one million gold, but the DM confirms it was 100 gold. Aerendyl mentions having 12,000 gold.
- The group recalls teaching the girl magic secretly, as they failed to discourage her from learning it. They notice a dark aura when she casts magic, but it’s infrequent. Shain also mentions having a dark and ashy fingertip, which hasn’t gone away from his meeting with Vezithor.
- The group is currently at a house where they’ve been staying for six extra days due to a delay. They are now investigating a cellar where the girl’s father took a wooden doll that Shain made. They also could not find Lenola Resmond at the time. The cellar has a long hallway with support beams made of wood of varying ages, some thousands of years old and others only a hundred years old.
- Shain uses Detect Magic and discovers chronology magic in the cellar, with pockets of time moving faster or slower. This explains why he felt disoriented while walking. He uses his dodecahedron to absorb the time anomalies, which causes the device to heat up but doesn’t seem to have any immediate negative effects.
- Shain polymorphs into a T-Rex using his Spell Storing Ring, which contains Polymorph. He does this for fun and to intimidate Benjamin Resmond, though it’s unclear if it has any effect.
- The group reaches a closed door at the end of the hallway, behind which they hear the sound of lightning and sparks. Aerendyl attempts to pick the lock, but it was already unlocked. They enter a large circular room with three pylons shooting electricity into a mass of energy in the center. Benjamin Resmond, the girl’s father, is cradling the wooden doll and crying.
- Shain decides to interact with the energy mass, using his dodecahedron to absorb it. He takes 40 points of damage from the interaction but successfully stops the energy from growing. The pylons begin to dim, and the energy surges back into Benjamin Resmond, killing him.
- After the fight, Shain investigates the room, noting the arcane symbols and support beams. He tries to document the symbols in his spell book but realizes that Comprehend Languages won’t help him understand the magical inscriptions. He considers using Identify or Detect Magic but concludes that the room’s magic is too complex to fully understand at the moment.
- Aerendyl questions a new character, Caitlin, who appeared after the energy mass was disrupted. Caitlin seems confused about where she is and why she’s there. Aerendyl explains the situation, mentioning that they followed Benjamin Resmond to the cellar and found him crying over the wooden doll.
- The session ends with the group discussing their next steps. Shain is particularly interested in the arcane symbols, while Aerendyl focuses on questioning Caitlin about her origins and intentions as well as wanting to investigate the support beams.
