Summary

Classes: Wizard / Elf Race

Source: Homebrew

You stand atop a tree stump, the gnarled rings and imperfections beneath your feet serving as the anchor for your spell. You create a shimmering holographic projection of yourself above a tree stump you know the location, rings, and imperfections of, allowing for two-way communication with someone on the other side. While casting this spell, your senses are fully focused on the projection, and you cannot perceive the real world around you.

During the duration of the spell, you can see and hear the area surrounding the tree stump on the other side, and your projected image can audibly interact with objects or creatures on the receiving end of the spell. You can speak and listen to those on the other side as if you were physically present there.

The communication is clear and unimpeded, but any attempt to physically pass through the tree stump is futile while this spell is active. If you attempt to end the spell before the duration expires, you must use an action to do so.

Once the spell’s duration ends or you choose to end it, the holographic projection dissipates, and you regain awareness of your surroundings.

Any tree stump can be used for this communication, however, you must study the circle’s location, rings, and imperfections very carefully to project yourself there in the future.

Learning

  • Any wizard can learn this spell

  • High elves innately learn this, provided they have someone to teach them or have a spell scroll. When learning from a spell scroll, it takes one hour. You may cast this without using a spell slot once per long rest.
