Recording - Audacity Project

Session starts Moonblossom 32nd 800av 4:30PM.

  • Shain mentions that he wants to purchase an item, but does not have the gold required. Aerendyl considers providing the 6,000 gold, but by shains own admission, its an item that may or may not work, Aerendyl performs a “vibe check” with a roll of 14, indicating neutral vibes.
  • Aerendyl, who realized he could, begins crafting two “pocket nukes” (Umbrastone bombs).
  • The group time skips to shortly before their meetup with the undead weapons dealer, around 8:30 PM, when alarm bells begin ringing across the city.
  • The bells signal a serious event, prompting panic among civilians.
  • Fluxy and Aerendyl are near the magic shop in the city, while Aragorn and Caitlin are with the cadets outside the city walls.
  • Aragorn decides to head to the alarm bells with all 20 cadets, instructing them to watch out for anything suspicious.
  • Fluxy casts a temporal map spell on a running guard and sends a crow to follow him to gather information. The crow reveals the guard is heading to a bustling guard post to the South.
  • Fluxy’s crow overhears a guard stating, “The watcher, he spotted something,” before the guard runs off towards the South gate, implying a significant threat.
  • Caitlin observes people fleeing the city and reserves/volunteers heading towards it.
  • Caitlin attempts to flag down guards for information but they ignore her as she is not a guard. She then tries to physically stop a reserve guard, but they run past her, stating they know nothing.
  • Both the crow (Shain) and Caitlin see guards grabbing spears, not swords, suggesting the threat is not a military invasion but a creature.
  • Caitlin decides to change course and head straight to the South gate.
  • Fluxy and Aerendyl teleport to the roof of a building and run on the roofs to get to the South gate.
  • Aragorn arrives at the South gate guard tower, pushing through panicked crowds. He encounters a Captain Killmore, who directs him to the front lines.
  • Aragorn, now at the front lines, stands in formation.
  • Aerendyl and Shain arrive at the guard post, but instead of asking what is happening, they decide to try to figure it out themselves.
  • Aerendyl teleports to the top of the guards tower and sees all the men deployed to the front lines, thousands if not dozens of thousands of troops all deployed to the south. He realizes the tower he is standing on has a trapdoor allowing him to descend via ladder.
  • He casts invisibility and finds himself in a makeshift war room filled with generals all discussing the upcoming battle.
  • The sound of mass air movement is heard, estimated to be around 500 feet away, indicating a flying presence.
  • Aerendyl learns that “it” is back. Deciding that “it” is not enough, he mutters “who?”, thankfully one of the generals answers with, “Pyrostralos, you… wait, who said that?”
  • Aerendyl, familiar with the great beast from his studies back home, quickly retreats to a safe distance. He then uses Orb of Zoom and tells Aragorn that the great dragon Pyrostralos is approaching and that they are at best, a distraction.
  • Unfortunately for Aragorn, this message was relayed through his Orb of Zoom. This means in a relatively loud voice, everyone around him heard the same information.
  • The formation immediately breaks as soldiers begin to panic.
  • Aragorn, finding the nearest thing for a podium, gives a motivational speech to the soldiers, urging them to pick up their spears and fight for their families, for their country!
  • Aragorn sheathes his greatsword and pulls out his “heritage sword,” a weapon he got from his father that is culturally significant.
  • Shain finally nears the front lines with Aragorn and Caitlin. (Caitlin arrived a few seconds earlier)
  • Aerendyl, listening in on the war room discussions, learns that initial projections for the dragon’s arrival were off, and it will arrive in two minutes.
  • An emergency order is issued to put out all fires and lights throughout the city, which Aerendyl observes happening. This order was given because the dragon is supposedly drawn to lights.
  • Aragorn recalls that the dragon is known for being completely black and only moving at night, glowing red only when breathing fire.
  • Aerendyl confirms he has pocket nukes, capable of creating craters of about 80 feet in diameter if fully deployed, but he has only prepared a few for testing.
  • The dragon finally comes into view, as red streaks beginning from all throughout its body begin to trace to its head. This is a tale-tale sign that the dragon will soon breath fire.
  • Pyrostralos is aiming straight for the soldiers, until at the last second, veering to the right.
  • Its speed is far too fast, as the soldiers scramble to get in its way it begins to breath fire down onto the city, starting outside the gates to the south, all the way into the center of the city. There, it descends and makes a small nest out of magma/lava. It telepathically speaks to everyone near the city, demanding that the heir of Gondor be handed over to him. If they do not heed his words, he will lay waste to a corner the city every day.
  • Pyrostralos calmly rests at the center of the city awaiting the Heir to be hand delivered to him.
  • Aragorn, deciding to give the dragon what it wants, stands near the dragon, (not too close because there is lava) wielding his heritage sword. Caitlin uses her skill to release the potential of the sword.
  • A crown manifests around Aragorn’s head, radiating light and power, which causes the dragon to react with fear and jolt up from its resting position. This powerful display is a manifestation of his skill, intuitively known to him. He feels a comforting hand, as if someone is assisting him in wielding the sword, making it feel weightless.
  • Shain attempts to cast a spell of Momentary Stasis on the dragon, but the dragon successfully resists the spell.
  • The dragon begins to approach, beginning to breath fire.
  • Aerendyl attempts a daring move to interrupt the dragon’s impending fire breath. He misty steps onto the dragon’s tooth, throws a prepared bomb into its throat, activating the fuse, and then jumps underneath its head. The bomb explodes, causing the dragon to burp out smoke, effectively interrupting its fire breath attack and stunning it.
  • The explosion causes a shot-lived wave of nausea to everyone except Aerendyl as he is underneath its mouth and safe from the blast.
  • The dragon takes two steps back.
  • Aragorn attacks the dragon. His heritage sword connects with a bolt of white light, and the dragon’s hardened skin begins to chip off at each hit, revealing bleeding fire. This powerful attack leaves the dragon looking battered, its eyes showing anger and fear.
  • The dragon uses an ability that causes Aragorn to become frightened.
  • The dragon then bites Aragorn.
  • Caitlin, using her skill again to release the latent power of a weapon, empowers one of Aerendyl’s “mini nukes”, throwing it at the dragon. This bottle begins to pull in all surrounding energy, including fire and lava, cooling the lava into rock. As it’s thrown into the dragon’s mouth, energy is visibly pulled from the dragon into the bottle.
  • After a few seconds, the bottle explodes in a directional manner, releasing a beam of energy that shoots straight down and straight up, creating a hole directly at the dragon’s neck. As the beam continues to pull in energy, the parts of the dragon and its surroundings from which energy is pulled appear to fade out of existence.
  • The dragon collapses to the ground and disappears entirely, as if it were purely an illusion from the initial manifestation. The party, ecstatic at their win, looks around noting that many people have witnessed what happened here today. The session ends with the beam of energy still active, pulling in energy from its surroundings.
    Session ends Moonblossom 32nd 800av 10:00PM.
