Session starts Moonblossom 32nd 800av 11:00AM.
- Aragorn wakes up around 4 a.m. to a knock on his door. He opens it to find a decorated man in a military-style uniform with three distinct medals. The man, a first lieutenant, questions Aragorn about missing roll call that morning. Aragorn claims no one told him about it, and when asked how he made it to first lieutenant without knowing about roll call, he responds, “Because I’m better”.
- Aragorn is then asked to make an intimidation check, which results in a natural 20, for a total of 21. The decorated man is speechless, noting Aragorn isn’t even in uniform. He tells Aragorn to be at his post in 10 minutes and that he’ll “write this up”.
- Aragorn quickly gets dressed then asks where his post is, and the decorated man tells him he didn’t read his documentation and directs him to the main barracks to speak with Captain Kilmore Palmer.
- Aragorn arrives at the main barracks and finds Captain Kilmore Palmer. He introduces himself as First Lieutenant Aragorn Mortensen. Captain Kilmore Palmer notes his arrogance and questions how he became a first lieutenant without knowing about roll call. Aragorn explains he was never told about roll call or a specific time to show up, only to be at his post.
- Captain Kilmore Palmer realizes Aragorn is a special officer, recruited at a higher rank with a direct field position and almost full independent authority, except for new matters requiring the Captain’s sign-off. Aragorn learns that his special grade means he only has to officially work four hours a day, but this is just for “advertising purposes” and is expected to work more hours as necessary.
- Aragorn inquires about his post, and Captain Kilmore Palmer explains that as a special officer, he doesn’t have a designated position. Instead, he is to file a special injunction for what he wishes to do. Captain Kilmore does express that he needs to achieve results or there are consiquences. Lastly, he informs Aragorn that his cadets will arrive around 2 p.m. from the North gate.
- Aragorn files the paperwork for the injunction to capture an undead arms dealer, which sets a 30-day time limit to research and, ideally, capture the suspect. The paperwork is detailed, and the Captain notes Aragorn didn’t have to put in so much effort.
- After filing the paperwork, the time is 5:15 a.m. Aragorn, remembering his cadets won’t arrive until 2 p.m, realizes he has plenty of time to kill. Since he quickly threw on his uniform, he takes a moment to see what kind of uniform it is; he is wearing a full green military uniform with stars on the collar, indicating his rank, but no hat.
- Aragorn decides to talk to Shain, who is still in the room. He informs Shain that he is a “first lieutenant special edition” and now controls a platoon, and that Shain will be participating in chasing down the undead arms dealer.
- At 2 p.m., Aragorn sees a group of cadets in military uniforms marching towards the city from the North gate. There are 20 cadets, and they have one line on their uniform, signifying them as enlisted cadets.
- Aragorn takes the cadets to a house where a previous encounter with the undead arms dealer occurred, involving over 20 skeletons. He instructs his cadets to search the house for information, but without breaking and entering.
- Inside the house, Aragorn finds remnants of a hasty departure, like a “sloppy getting together”. He finds a picture of a family, including children, and sketches it in his notebook, getting an “okay sketch” with a performance roll of 11. He then asks a cadet named Grum, who is good at sketching, to create a more recognizable portrait.
- Aragorn designates Grum and Seraphina as cadet commanders for when he is gone, noting they will be in charge of the cadet corps but still report to him. He briefs his chosen team of five (Silas, Seraphina, Grum, Torvind, and Borid) about the mission to find the undead arms dealer, who sells mass-produced weapons.
- Aragorn sends a message to Aerendyl to meet him and the team in the field of the arms dealer. He plans for the team to arrive at the meeting location at the same time as the arms dealer to avoid suspicion.
- Shain expresses that he is “spent” and would be useless in a fight unless for research purposes. Aerendyl suggests Shain can “go, watch, hang out, and investigate”. Aragorn says the mission starts at 10:30pm, and the group can take a short rest if needed.
- Shain decides to go to a place to buy something useful before the mission. Aerendyl mentions possibly having a “refilling ring” that he crafted.
- Aerendyl confirms he will arrive at the location, and Aragorn reiterates the need for full cooperation, noting that while he and Caitlin are technically in charge, the information about the arms dealer will mostly come from Caitlin.
Session ends Moonblossom 32nd 800av 4:30PM.
