Session starts as they are heading to the capital for questioning, Mistfire 10th 800av at 8:30 PM
Slight retcon as Nathan was not here. As the party regroups in the courtyard, Yinlare hides in the shadows and decides to follow the party from a distance.
- As the party makes their way to the train, following the directions of the guards under Sekla, Aerendyl takes a close look at the train. Aerendyl notices that the train appears to be powered mainly by science with a mix of magic.
- Two guards take the group and lead them to a separate train cart towards the rear. There they find a very refined room, lined with gold and an air of royalty. There is a static light source down the center of the cabin illuminating the entire train car.
- The two guards each take a position at the rear and front of the car respectively. It is clear that the guards are here for their safety, or to keep them there, but not to be hostile or impede the party’s journey.
The rest of this is written from memory, as such some finer details may not be present. If you notice a missing detail, please reach out - As the train begins to move, the party notices its absurd speed, easily going faster than mach 1.2 (their previous record).
- The party decides to ask one of the guards, Turf’kin, some questions about the train, as they have never seen anything like it before.
- The party learns that the train is powered by objects known as Umbrastones, powerful stones that can use or manipulate magic. Aerendyl, who had a Magic Spiny Stone, held out his stone and learned it is in fact one in the same.
- The guard offers to go get the conductor as he is more knowledgeable in the ways of Umbrastones, far more than himself. Aerendyl readily accepts his kind offer.
- Shortly a man in a trench coat appears, the guard introduces him as Professor In’vek who claims to be an original designer of the train.
- Through discussion with Professor In’vek, the party learns of two more colors of stones; Yellow Stones and Cyan Stones.
- The professor claims that though he knows much about Umbrastones, his true expertise is in the origin of the stones. He tells the party his prevailing theory; He claims that, even though it seems absurd, there once was a group of hyper intelligent beings who created a device capable of controlling, bending, or modifying magic at a fundamental level. His proposition is that this device, or many of them at the same time, exploded resulting in the jagged edges and unique shapes that the stones are generally found in. He further hypothesizes that this “intelligent design” idea would also explain why the more “powerful” stones are more rare, as they would only make up a small piece of an overall machine.
- Aerendyl, slightly shifting the conversation, mentions how they have actually been down here before, and recounts his journey and experience with the large creature. The professor is actually not surprised by the description, in fact he seems more concerned at the details. He informs the party that the creature is known as Obnadra, a fierce and powerful dragon that rarely leaves Ukbu.
- Aerendyl continues his description of his adventure, mentioning that a being known as Vexmortis placed the wells that Aerendyl used to descend to Kolnada the first time. Hearing this, Professor In’vek seems upset at the wells for some reason. More importantly, he asks the party if the wells were the reason for their arrival; The party urges that they are there accidentally, the Professor immmediatly responds with; “For the princes ears only, i understand”. The party tries, and fails, to convince him that they are actually here accidentally.
- Finally the Magi Train begins to slow down, the guards approach the party asking them to follow as they enter the city.
- As the party is being escorted to the gate they gaze upon the walls of Makra Salbe Vin, the astounding walls stood taller than great trees at a staggering 700 ft tall. They see the prince speaking to the guard at the gate ahead.
- As the party entered the gate, they were stopped by some guards who very kindly requested weapons as they were not allowed in the city.
- The party is lead and escorted through what is implied to be the main palace, where the prince resides. It has the length of approximately 1080 feet of pure marble flooring making a large ballroom. Statues and flower vases line the entirety of the hall. Great chandeliers were placed every 50 or so feet, magically glowing and floating.
- They continue through, eventually exiting the palace into a large courtyard filled with exotic plants and a fountain that had pink water.
- the party was escorted through to another building that resembled the palace but on a much smaller scale, a luxury mansion.
- The guard escorting, Turf’kin, then welcomed them to the Makra Consolate, they are told to wait here until someone arrives to discuss the parties arrival.
- before the guard leaves, Shain ask him if there is a library he can visit. The guard tells him that they are not to leave the consolate, but there is a small library downstairs. He does warn him that it is quite old, however.
- Shain and Aerendyl head to the library. Surprisingly, the books seem to be written in common. Aerendyl finds a book on engineering. Unfortunately, it just covers the basics, no new information. Shain looks for a book on the Umbrastone. Unfortunately, he only finds a book about precious rocks. It was written by a Le’more. However, there is a listing that shows a rock that looks similar to an Umbrastone, but it is listed as “fancy rock” the date, though, is strange 700 ri is the date listed.
- As it is getting late, the party heads to the second floor to find a room to sleep in. However, on Aerendyl way out of the library, he notices a room with an old, heavily used workshop.
- the party makes their way upstairs finding multiple extremely nice quality rooms. They all take their own rooms, each with luxury comforts. Two rooms actually have a nice suit of holden display armor in the corner.
- the party lays down and goes to sleep
Yinlare’s adventure
- Yinlare followed the prince, listening in on his conversation after delivering the party to the Makra Consolate. What he hears is essentially the crown prince as well as his advisors freaking out about who the party is, how they got here, and what they want.
- Theories are diverse and wild, some thinking that we are illusions and not real, others thinking that we are a dragon in disguise. The general consensus among these theories is that they should not anger the party and be as diplomatic as possible.
- Yinlare journeys back to the Makra Consolate and finds an empty room to sleep in.
