Session starts, deep within the Deserted Mining Cave, Mistfire 10th 800av at 3:00 PM
We begin as they continue down the mineshaft.

  • Aerendyl speeds up, knowing that the statues are non-hostile.
  • They have passed hundreds of these statues. All of them are different, not copies. Some are different races, etc. Yinlare attacked a statue every so often, but it remained the same. They stop as they approach a door, there are a 70 of these statues near the end of the mineshaft.
  • The cave, regardless of being very old, seems quite stable for its age.
  • Aerendyl investigates the lights, noting that they seem to be relatively new, just being installed in the last 5 years or so.
  • Shain sends his bird to investigate the different tunnels. He notes that two seem to continue downward and continue further than the range his familiar can go, and the others seem to end quickly.
  • The party decides to go to the door at the end of the mine.
  • When they try to open it, they discover that it is locked. Yinlare investigates the area, noting footprints that indicate that people, specifically a dragon-born, had been through here recently. As such, Aerendyl decides to knock on the door.
  • From the inside of the room, they hear a voice. The voice tells them to “leave it outside, he will grab it in a bit”. Aerendyl calls out, claiming that he needs a signature. confused by this strange request, the voice calls out with; “The trees in the forest…”.
  • luckily Yinlare, who had spent time with Valenshapers, knows the answer to this question. He mimics the voice of Aerendyl to the best of his ability and responds with “ruffles crazily.”
  • The person opens the door; immediately the party notes two stone statues and some form of altar in the background. Furthermore, Yinlare notices that the person in front of them matches the description of The Crafter.
  • Operating under the assumption that this person is The Crafter, the party quickly pins him and begins questioning him. They learn that this person and the Valenshapers have an ongoing defacto partnership. Every so often, the Valenshapers will give this man some people, usually 2-5, and he will return them a single brainwashed individual willing to carry out the Valenshapers will.
  • When they push for more information, “The Crafter” goes to cast what the party assumes to be a spell. Before he could finish, Aerendyl snaps his neck. The body begins to decay at an extreme speed, quickly becoming just bones.
  • The party, now assuming that the fight is over, goes and investigates the room. Aerendyl takes an anvil that is in the room. Shain takes some paperwork. Yinlare investigates the altar, finding nothing of note.
  • While the party investigates, they hear a snap from behind them. The remains of what the party believes to be The Crafter, appears to be moving. The neck snaps back into place and the jaw begins to move. Even without vocal cords or lungs, it speaks a phrase, ‘Al-shenari kenula’.
  • At this utterance, the three statues in the corner of the room begin to move. The right arm of each begins to slowly raise as a glowing orb of magic appears in front of each statue.
  • Aerendyl and Shain cast counterspell, causing two of the statues magic to cease. However, the last statue was still casting. When it finished, a shockwave of magic was sent out, rejuvenating spell slots of the party. In response, the statues also moved. They began to swarm the party and attack. However, the statues appear to return to stone when not moving.
  • The party realizes that they cannot win against hundreds and hundreds of statues, so they decide to run. Shain polymorphs into a T-Rex and crashes through the door, planning to pave the way for the party. However, the mineshaft seems completely blocked by the statues, more than what Shain would be able to take down.
  • As such, they escape using the only remaining option, through the side tunnel that Shain had spotted before.
  • As they continue downwards into the mine, it begins to open up. Going from what once as a narrow manmade cave, to a natural large cave. Eventually, they come upon a hole in the floor that shows a large cavern a good 900ish ft down. \
  • They notice a platform with a panel of buttons on the inside, large enough for multiple people.1
  • The party climbs inside the platform and presses the bottom button. The platform begins to move down. Aerendyl notices that the panel can be opened and sees a stone, similar to that of the Magic Spiny Stones.
  • Aerendyl fiddled with it trying to get the platform to go back up because this cavern was the one with the large creature and he has PTSD.
  • Unfortunately, the platform does not stop or reverse course. The platform continues downward as the party notices two buildings, a building with glowing blue minecart rails that are coming out of both ends (a train station) and a large consulate type building with a large fenced in courtyard. There is a device in the courtyard that is sending pulses of force into the top of the cavern.
  • As the party gets to the bottom, the platform finally stops moving.
  • Aerendyl gets the feeling he should not mess with the platform anymore.
  • Shain and Aragorn went to the courtyard whilst Aerendyl and Yinlare went to checkout the train station2.
  • Whilst investigating the courtyard and the device inside, a kobold calls out to them. He asks how they are here and what they are doing. He tells them to wait there and to call their friends over here. A few minutes later, once the party is together, they hear a noise coming from far away (a train). A few minutes after that, a kobold appears with an entourage. He asks the party the same questions. He appears genuinely confused how they could have gotten there. The party learns the mans name is Sekla, the prince of this nation called Kolnada.
  • The prince tells them to follow him, they board a train.
