Nation Info

Egoria is an island state located in close proximity to Aethel, sharing a similar population size of around 15,000. However, unlike Aethel, Egoria is known for its highly diverse population.

History

Early Settlement (100 B.V. - 196 A.V.)

Egoria’s history begins with a wave of settlers from various regions, seeking refuge or new opportunities. This influx resulted in a melting pot of cultu res and races, contributing to Egoria’s diverse population.

Proper Settlement (196 A.V.)

On Moonblossom 3rd 196 A.V. Egoria formally becomes a nation, trading and managing as a formal body.

Stagnant Trade

Due to its location near Aethel, Egoria initially hoped to capitalize on the trade routes to Bontrant. However, Aethel’s dominance in the mithril trade and its control of the sea routes has relegated Egoria to a marginal position. Its proximity to Aethel has not translated into economic prosperity.

Cultural Exchange

Despite its economic struggles, Egoria’s diverse population has led to a rich cultural exchange. Ideas, art, and technologies from different lands merged, creating a unique and vibrant society, even in the face of hardship.

Newfound Opportunities (787 A.V.)

With The Fall of Aethel, the people of Egoria began to brave the remaining undead, pushing through to acquire the mythral, and trading it with Bontrant and continually increasing prices.

Government

Egoria’s government is a republic, with representatives elected from various regions and communities within the island. This system ensures that all voices are heard, and is seen as a source of pride, although it also presents challenges in maintaining unity and focus in the face of economic hardship.

Demographics

Egoria’s population is a melting pot of races, including:

  • Humans
  • Elves
  • Dwarves
  • Dragonborn
  • Gnomes
  • Halflings
  • And many other smaller populations

This diverse mix has resulted in a society known for its cultural tolerance and cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Culture

Egoria’s culture is a blend of various traditions, resulting in:

  • Art: A fusion of artistic styles, with influences from various racial aesthetics, often expressing themes of resilience and hope.
  • Music: A vibrant and eclectic music scene, incorporating instruments and rhythms from across the world, used to tell stories of struggle and perseverance.
  • Cuisine: A diverse culinary tradition, with each community contributing its unique dishes and flavors, often relying on resourcefulness and creativity due to limited resources.
  • Social Customs: A wide range of social customs and traditions, often celebrated through festivals and gatherings that showcase the island’s multiculturalism and emphasize community solidarity.

Economy

Egoria’s economy is struggling, marked by:

  • Limited Trade: Egoria’s location, while strategically close to Bontrant, suffers from Aethel’s control of key trade routes. This restricts Egoria’s ability to engage in profitable commerce.
  • Resourcefulness: Lacking a dominant export like Aethel’s mithril, Egoria’s diverse population has had to rely on its own ingenuity and craftsmanship to survive.

Nowadays, after The Fall of Aethel, trade is opening up - allowing Egoria to trande with Sagehaven without the pesky people of Aethel getting in the way.

Tradition of Innovation

Egoria is known for its tradition of innovation. The need to overcome its economic disadvantages has fostered a culture of invention and problem-solving, setting it apart from its neighbors. This ingenuity is evident in its:

  • Inventions: Egorians are known for creating unique and often eccentric inventions, born out of necessity and a desire to improve their circumstances.
  • Adaptability: The islanders have a remarkable ability to adapt to new situations and find creative solutions to challenges.
