With a flick of your wrist and a whispered incantation, you summon ethereal chains that manifest around a chosen creature within range, binding them and rendering them weightless. The target must make a DC 30 Dexterity saving throw or be ensnared by the spectral shackles.
While bound by Ethereal Shackles, the target’s movement speed becomes 0, and they are suspended in mid-air, floating up to 5 feet behind you. They cannot move voluntarily unless the caster allows them to. Additionally, any attempts by the bound creature to break free from the shackles are made with disadvantage.
The caster can maintain concentration on the spell, controlling the movement of the bound creature within the 15-foot range. If the caster moves out of range, the bound creature remains suspended where it is until the caster moves back into range or the spell ends.
If the caster loses concentration, the shackles dissipate, and the creature is released from their hold, falling to the ground if there is nothing else supporting them.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 9th level, you can target an additional creature for each slot level above 8th.
